I have successfully imported GPX tracks into this phone based Garmin Explore Mobile app before these attempts, and synch'ed to the XT for Nav (via Drive), so I'm pretty sure the Explore app is intact, functional. I used two test routes, one long (Montrose to La Sal, like the YouTube tutorial) and one short (AZ city to city) to determine if I was being track waypoint count limited at the import.Īll four attempts end with a "Error uploading file" message at the import to the Web based Garmin Explore on the phone, and also import to the Garmin Explore Mobile app on the phone.

I have attempted to export two test routes in GPX format (default file type, no other allowed) from Furkot, both test routes attempted via the Mobile Furkot app on the phone, and via the Win7 PC Web based Furkot to the local filesystem, then via email to myself. I also have Win7 PC based Furkot, and Chrome web based Furkot () loaded with the same test routes. This is not the "trial gold subscription" version of the app, this is the Google Playstore "out of the box" app version. I have the no-subscription Furkot Mobile app loaded onto my Samsung S9+ (Android 10) phone. I've done that successfully with the long, tedious methods previously described (using Win7 PC BC via email method). I also know about the difficulties with Waypoints management and their icons, and the workaround methods to get them (icon intact) into the XT device.

I know about track / route, import / export methods, and WinPC and Android filesystems. I got all that under the learning curve belt. I know about the differences between routes, tracks, and (Trip) conversions using iterations (Chrome web-based app, and / or Mobile app.) of Garmin Explore and Drive.

(which I know how to use, but do not want to drag a PC along my trip). I would like to not be tethered to the WinPC based BaseCamp routing app. I'm looking for an easy to use, android phone based route planning app (Chrome browser web based, or dedicated Mobile app is OK). I read about a recommendation for the planning app Furkot. This method is very "clunky", but I now understand the usefulness of phone based Garmin Explore app. Once the data is transferred into the (phone) Explore app (via email or cloud based share), I believe you can then disconnect from the LTE web and / or the WiFi web, and proceed off-line, and off-road with your new track and (correct) waypoints. That will wreck the track and waypoint data set into the (your) Internet web-based (MS Explorer / Chrome web browser) Garmin Explore Library database. (ie: It appears to not be reliable).ĭo Not push the data from WinPC based BC to WinPC based Explore.

I have also seen the Internet web-based (Microsoft Explorer / Google Chrome) Garmin Explore app sync / update with this data if you are logged in, but sometimes it is not identical with what is on the phone Explore app. No "double data" will be seen in the Zumo.
Garmin Drive will now extract the tracks, routes, waypoints, and other collections data from the phone Garmin Explore app. Power up the Zumo, and allow Zumo BT to connect to phone. Do Not Copy / Share the data to Drive!! (This action is where "double data" occurs).
OK, everything looks correct in (phone) Explore. For transferring data from cloud or via email, to phone-based Explore. To be clear, if you are using WinPC based BC for Planning, then I believe you must have at least Internet via WiFi at this point. Everything should be right, but fix in WinPC BC if it's not quite right yet, and then reload it into phone Explore. Check symbols for correct type and color, check track for correct color and direction. Should be just one copy of data there, in the (phone) Explore app. Open the data (waypoints, tracks) in Explore and look it over. The fix is simple: After the data copy from (WinPC) BC to (phone) Explore. I discovered why the "doubling" occurs, and I have a fix for it. Directly after, I saw an inmate complain about a "double transfer" of track and waypoint data when "pushing" data from the Explore app to the Zumo XT, through the Drive app.
I also found a discussion of waypoint type transfer from WinPC BaseCamp (BC) to Phone Garmin Explore app to (via Phone Garmin Drive app) to Garmin Zumo XT around page #114 of this thread. Every Zumo XT menu selection available is discussed. But, he admits he does not use Routes, or Trips for his Nav mode. Great course, and yes it explains track usage nicely. Click to expand.I watched the course, and followed along.
